{{lang?'还有什么理由拒绝工厂自动化?':'What are the reasons for rejecting factory automation?'}}

The so-called automation refers to the adoption of new technologies to reduce the need for human intervention in the factory. The purpose is to optimize the factory, improve productivity, and ultimately enhance competitiveness in an increasingly competitive environment.

There are many reasons to promote the automation of software or robot processes, including eliminating repetitive or complex tasks, replacing dangerous human tasks, reducing the activities of personnel in the environment or activities that cause high wear of personnel joints, improving safety, increasing accuracy, reducing time and cost, especially saving energy, and so on.

But factory automation does not mean that manpower is no longer important. On the contrary, the factory needs to arrange personnel to monitor the automatic operation, maintain the system and check the final quality of products. Therefore, the role of human in automation is increasingly important.

Factory automation can also increase factory productivity, so that factories can accept more orders. In this way, the factory needs more personnel. On the other hand, automation can make factories recover investment costs faster.

How to automate?

The automation process is carried out step by step. First of all, the factory should be teleported.

Sensors are devices used to collect data from machines and processes, and then analyze them through software and artificial intelligence algorithms.

In the field of the Internet of Things (loT), sensors refer to the interconnection of factories in order to understand the production chain to the greatest extent and control everything that happens in the factory in real time.

The factory should implement the following steps when introducing the automation system:

1. Planning: understand the entire production process and supply chain, identify which processes are applicable to automation, and ensure that production is not interrupted.

2. Integration: All elements and data must be informationized so that once the factory is communicated, the automation software can understand and process the data well.

3. Monitoring: arrange operators to monitor the system to ensure its normal operation.

4. Maintenance: develop a maintenance plan and take necessary measures to ensure system efficiency.

On the other hand, the automation plant communicates through the distributed control system (SCD), including five levels, namely the so-called automation pyramid:

1. Processing level: refers to the control unit where the connected sensor is located

2. Control level: PLC system

3. Monitoring level: data acquisition and monitoring system (SCADA)

4. Planning level: manufacturing execution system (MES)

5. Management level: enterprise comprehensive management planning software (ERP)

Advantages of automation

There are five advantages of automation. The specific analysis is as follows:

01. Improve productivity

Automation can improve the production speed, optimize the use of machines, and give people more time to spend in other valuable activities that automation cannot touch. This advantage is not only reflected in production, but also in other aspects, such as inventory management and order processing.

02. Save time and cost

A report from ARC Consulting Group, a market research company, pointed out that the adoption of general automation alone could save up to $30 billion a year for the factory.

03. Make full use of

Automation can work from time to time. Therefore, there is no need for human intervention to automatically process orders at any time.

04. Improve quality

Reducing manual processes means reducing the risk of negligence and errors that may affect product quality.

05. Improve efficiency

Factory automation can optimize production, improve accuracy and reduce material waste.

Although automation is still at the beginning stage, it is not difficult to predict that with the increasing application of industrial 4.0 technology tools in factories, automation will gradually develop into more complex industries like machine learning or artificial intelligence. Deloitte's annual report "Intelligent Automation" pointed out that the number of enterprises adopting automation technology increased to 73% last year, compared with 58% in the previous year, and three quarters of enterprises have joined the ranks.

As a sheet metal factory, the earlier you take advantage of the competitive advantage of automation, the farther away you can leave your competitors in the competition.
